Every day one hears on the nightly news or reads in the newspapers references to global warming. In fact the term “global warming” has seemingly become a mantra, code for past and future catastrophes ranging from weather anomalies to health concerns to species extinction. And while discovering a way for all beings inhabiting this earth to have a sustainable life and live in harmony is of utmost importance, it is difficult to imagine a more imminent problem then total environmental destruction created by global warming. One may not be able to immediately tie all the above issues together.

Pressed firmly against the glass, however, facing its own demise, humanity must no longer view its humanitarian and environmental goals as incompatible and/or somehow in competition with one another. The directing of precious resources and technologies towards peaceful coexistence as well as restoration of environmental balance and sustainability must not only be viewed as realistic, but imperative! Why has this inclusive approach not been a priority? To sufficiently answer this question, it is important to acknowledge the philosophical scaffolding leading to our present state of affairs. Any building contractor knows you do not just slap a few pieces of wood together to build a sound structure. Structural codes based on complex engineering principles and formulas can now determine whether a building will withstand, for instance, an earthquake magnitude of 7.0. Indeed, building codes have altered drastically in places such as California in lieu of recent devastating earthquakes. Similarly, human values and morals comprise the structure of society. From such values and morality, laws governing everything from personal to corporate to governmental behavior are crafted.

Until the precarious present, many laws have been based upon belief systems denigrating both nature and women. Such denigration comes from what Kuan Yin refers to as "the great divide". Identifying "the great divide" between men and women as a core source for suffering and grief upon the earth, Kuan Yin portrays one side as the terrified men and the other as the defeated, powerless women. Maintaining that if every human being could recognize the power of The Love and Forgiveness Principle—that if such a principle was utilized in global as well as personal relationships, Kuan Yin states that all consciousness on earth would change instantly.

Of course, this topic requires further attention. For the present, though, we should continue discussing the positive aspects of how perceived separateness affords the ego limitless individuation. It is also the underlying assumption for everything we think and do in our lives.

It is this so-called separation the ego experiences in fact creating the dynamic tension necessary for existence on earth. For whether it is love, divinity or money we seek the underlying motivation will always be wholeness. It is this almost unbearable estrangement from the universe drawing us back to oneness. Addressing "artificial" separations and burdens experienced upon the earth, Kuan Yin instructs that our “Authentic Self” is that part of us existing before we are born and after we die, is not male or female, young or old.

Living first hand, the physicality and emotions of maleness and femaleness, youth and maturity, we learn acceptance of differences. It is this morphing from life experience to life experience, that eventually teaches us compassion.

Ego is notorious for its penchant to protect. In the process, it routinely invents artificial boundaries, creating various modes to distinguish itself from others. Such an approach can lead to unfortunate beliefs having the potential to limit one's life experience: the "better than", "not enough" and "survival of the fittest" beliefs.

It is these three limiting beliefs, according to Kuan Yin, that are at the root of all suffering on earth. We have the ability right now to renounce shortsighted and inappropriate beliefs and their corresponding laws so to better address the ominous threats of our time. The question is; does humanity have the foresight to understand and alter its beliefs for the sake of its own survival?

What dream have we indeed awoken to? Kuan Yin speaks of our present paradigm in disparaging terms: that this reality has been formed from a collective agreement emphasizing the above three limiting beliefs. Yet, Kuan Yin insists everyone currently inhabiting the planet has consciously "chosen" to come here at this dire moment in history. Why would Kuan Yin then state that it is this earthly existence that is "the most important step in our evolution"? Could it be that we have come to heal the havoc created when individuals fail to understand their own manifestation powers?

In the following passage, Kuan Yin explains how her teachings can guide the way:

"I am making a path of breadcrumbs back to one’s true divine and peaceful nature. Every historic period needs some breadcrumb-makers."

What path will you chose? Implementing Kuan Yin's powerful spiritual tools, you can begin to heal on a personal level. Building upon that, you can then utilize these same tools to join with others to "turn the ship around".

Assuring that everything is "right on schedule", Kuan Yin states that spiritual awakening, honing one's ability to effectively direct the creative force is the only way to navigate the impending upheavals on earth:

“I’m suddenly seeing myself laying in a thick layer of an oil-like substance,” describes Lena. “It is similar to the oil that rises to the top layer of a boiling pot of soup. Above this thick and heavy atmosphere are astonishingly vivid colors of bright light.”

“Push it aside. It is like the Biblical “parting of the waters”,” Kuan Yin instructs. “Only this is parting of dense consciousness. It’s the only way to keep you in balance during the difficult times. You know,” Kuan Yin concedes, “harder times might be coming. There may be a lot of chaos. People are going to have to (more than ever) rely upon spiritual practice. The only way to remain strong is to pray for others. Don’t get too depleted.”

Humanity is presently faced with clear alternatives. Standing at this very dangerous precipice, we absolutely must renounce the disastrous mindsets embodied by the present paradigm. Implementing positive beliefs and values will result in directing our resources and technology towards peaceful coexistence and restoration of the balance of the ecosphere. Imagine the benefits when the billions of dollars devoted to war are applied to humanitarian and environmental efforts?

Many have already espoused that the problems we face today are fundamentally philosophical and therefore must be addressed through philosophy. One can pass laws, but unless addressing the philosophical core of such issues, war and every other form of limitation will continue to plague this civilization.
